In the mid-2010s, the Dominican Republic continued to consolidate a modern telecommunications infrastructure, increasing the country's capacity to access the most advanced technologies. Telecommunication services provided to end-users include telephone, internet, as well as radio and television broadcasting services, both over-the-air and via cable. These services are offered using various technologies, including copper cables, fiber optics, fixed wireless services, digital lines (ADSL/DSL), widespread use of IP technology, and the use of CDMA, GSM, 2.5G, 3G, and 4G technologies. Additionally, satellite communication is extensively utilized, among other technologies.

THE MOST IMPORTANT CABLE TELEVISION COMPANIES ARE

ALTICE: Altice is a telecommunications service provider in the Dominican Republic. In November 2013, the telecommunications company Altice, based in Amsterdam, announced the acquisition of TRICOM and the multinational company Orange, merging into a single entity.

CLARO: Claro is a Latin American communications service brand owned by the Mexican company América Móvil. It is controlled by the Grupo Carso, whose majority shareholder is Carlos Slim, along with Telmex, Telcel, and Telesites.

VIVA: VIVA is a specialized mobile telecommunications company in the Dominican Republic. It was acquired by Trilogy International Partners in 2007 and has been owned by the Telemicro Media Group since 2016.

Other telecommunications companies include: Aster, Sky, Wind, WillNet, SilkGlobal, ONETEL KDK, etc.
